The NAACP Anchorage holds its General membership meetings on the 3rd Monday of each month at 7:00 pm and Executive Committee meetings on the 1st Thursday of each month, at 7:00 pm. All meetings are held at the NAACP Offices located at 325 East 3rd Avenue in the John Thomas Building.* * * * * The Anchorage ACT-SO competition was held July 8-12, 2010. Four local high school participants competed and received excellent evaluations from the judges: Taj Showalter (Vocal Contemporary); Sharai Mason (Dramatics); Joseph Glover (Drawing) and Xavier Mason (Poetry). Congratulations to ALL of the participants in the 2010 ACT-So program! The NAACP National convention was recently convened in Kansas City, Missouri, July 10 - 15, 2010. This year's theme is One Nation, One Dream". Chairman Roslyn M. Brock and President & CEO Benjamin Todd Jealous have brought a new vision and youth to the organization. The Struggle continues....

On February 12, 2009, the NAACP marked its 100th anniversary. The NAACP headquarters, based in Baltimore, Maryland, along with its 1.700 units nationwide, will host celebrations and observances throughout the year ending on February 12, 2010, that highlight the significant role the organization has played in leading social change in America.
The Anchorage NAACP is very appreciative of the support of our community and endeavors to continue to fight for the equal rights of all people in our community.
